Restoring the Earth, Recovering Value.
The Zero-Waste Mining
Revolution
reOsiris is a mining waste recovery and environmental restoration company
Headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, Canada
OUR MISSION is to restore the land, lakes, and rivers that have been impacted from historic mine sites back to their natural conditions.
OUR PURPOSE is to eliminate the concept of “waste” in mining, turning liabilities into assets for both the environment and the economy.
OUR VISION is to be the global leader in zero-waste mining solutions, making every mine a source of sustainable value.
Why reOsiris Works
Our Solution
reOsiris has developed a proprietary, scalable process to reprocess tailings and current mine waste, recovering valuable materials and creating inert, saleable final products removing all historic and preventing future liabilities.
Environmental Restoration
Reclaim legacy mine sites through strategic remediation and sustainable land restoration.
Community & ESG Impact
Support local communities with jobs, timeless growth, and long-term environmental benefits.
The Global Tailings Crisis
Mine tailings, the crushed rock byproduct of mineral processing, represent one of the largest and most hazardous waste streams on the planet. For decades, they have been stored in massive dam facilities, creating a ticking time bomb of financial liability and environmental risk that has now reached a critical breaking point.
This Isn't Just a Cost of Doing Business
It’s a global crisis that demands a new, circular solution.
Massive Annual Volume
An estimated 14 billion metric tons of tailings are produced annually.
For perspective, this is enough waste to bury the entire island of Manhattan under 25 meters (80 feet) of sludge every single year.
Catastrophic Dam Failures
The frequency and severity of tailings dam failures are increasing. A catastrophic failure now occurs, on average, every 2-3 years, with dozens of smaller but serious incidents happening annually.
Vast Environmental Footprint
Staggering Perpetual Costs
- The estimated cost to close all existing tailings facilities globally is over $500 billion.
- The cleanup and perpetual management cost for a single major failed site can exceed $1 billion. The Giant Mine in Canada, for example, requires a ~$1 billion2, taxpayer-funded project to perpetually freeze 237,000 tonnes of arsenic dust.
